The fellowship committee of Cornerstone is starting a new idea, called TEXT CONNECT.  What this is is a mass texting system that will allow a message be sent to everyone in the church who joins the group by anyone in the group.  We see this being used in several ways:

The fellowship committee sending out reminders of upcoming potlucks or events that people may want to be a part of
Individuals looking for someone to join them for some fellowship and good times (example: text-Hi, this is the Longs.  We are going this evening to a live nativity at Koke Mill Christian Church.  If you would like to join us, give me a call at 217-555-5555. Or to the zoo, bowling or …)

We also see it used in situations requiring some urgency, for example:

The church has sustained some water damage and we need help and shop vacs
Prayer request-my mother is on her way to the ER with chest pains, please join me in praying for her.
Pastor Mike or Jason needs help, or them providing information.

Please remember the following:

Standard text rates apply-unless you have unlimited texting
This will not replace our current email system, only supplement it
You can alway quit the group by texting QUIT to one of the above numbers

Since it costs to send each text, we will reserve this system to urgent matters.  We see this involving maybe 2 or 3 texts sent out per week, and never more that 1 per day.
